KANSAS CITY — Amid an ongoing labor dispute between the NFL and its referee union, Patrick Mahomes announced Wednesday that he will personally interview all replacement referee candidates, citing what he described as "a vested interest in making sure we get this right."

Mahomes has prepared a list of 14 interview questions. The first is "how do you feel about roughing the passer." The last is "are you comfortable making fast decisions under pressure, specifically in the fourth quarter, specifically when the Chiefs have the ball."

The NFL has not objected to the arrangement. Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league was "fully supportive" of Mahomes' involvement. He did not say why.

Interviews begin Monday. Candidates have been asked to bring two forms of identification and a working whistle. Mahomes said he will provide the yellow flags.
